NATIONAL METALLURGICAL LABORATORY (CSIR-NML)
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) is one amongst thirty seven research institutes of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research in India. It was inaugurated on November 26, 1950 by India’s first Prime minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and dedicated to the service of nation.
CSIR-NML has emerged as a customer driven and globally competitive research institute in the area of minerals, metals and materials by introducing technology partnerships and collaborative business models with Indian industries and multinationals. CSIR-NML as on today is proud owner of the 2nd largest creep testing facilities in Asia which was started in the early 1970s. CSIR-NML has diversified its research areas ranging from mineral beneficiation, cleaner & sustainable metals production, alloy development,refractory materials development, advanced materials to corrosion studies, mathematical & physical modeling of processes, integrity evaluation of critical industrial components, non-destructive evaluation, and surface engineering. CSIR-NML took several mission mode programs on Health, environment, rural technology and sustainable development to cater to the needs of societal common masses.
CSIR-NML has significantly enhanced the business for its knowledgebase through innovation methods, building strong linkages with major stake holders.
